What comes to mind more often than not when you hear of a female preacher/Reverend is probably a middle-aged or older lady draped in overflowing Vitenge, shouting ‘Glory is here’; and who prolly only knows the missionary style

Until one woman of the cloth hit the Kenyan Evangelical scene with her sense of unconventional style, feeding both the eyes and souls

Reverend Lucy Natasha is the founder and overseer of Prophetic Latter Glory Ministries International. And she is not your average saliva spitting, ‘Praise Jesus’ preacher- she serves looks, sophistication, and a life so flamboyant that Jesus who used to hitchhike on donkeys and eat at other people’s houses would be stupefied!

Her life is inundated in luxury- from private jets , top of the range rides, a sartorial taste well fed by classy designers, servants-nay- stewards at her beck and call, she is definitely the envy of all these tin-roofed panda mbegu noisemakers

She also rubs shoulders with leaders your pastor watches on TV from his Kasarani one-bedroom that he pays for with your tithe

Rev Lucy Natasha who was ordained in 2011 at Redeemed Gospel Church in Huruma also happens to have grown up in Eastlands and went to school in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate before going to South Africa for further studies.

Her parents separated when she was young, and so she was raised by her mum. Her mother is Pastor Esther Wanjiru, a senior pastor at Maximum Miracle Centre – Kawangware (MMC-K).

As a child, Natasha ostensibly used to stammer a lot. This caused great worry to her mother, who often invited preachers to pray for her. When she was 10 years old, a preacher foresaw that a prophet would arise from her family. The preacher pointed at her, and that was when she stopped stammering- sounds like something from a low-budget Nollywood nonsense but that’s what she says so…

But the juicy part is her dating life. She is stunning, not quite near the menopause age, and has her own bread and bacon- in plenty if I may add.

That she is not yet married has set her up as fodder for gossip with insinuations rife that she prefers the bean rather than the meat- allegations she has often laughed off with bible quotes and philosophical dictums often conjured as jabs towards the idle minds who want to poke their noses inside her sheets

And she has decided to take y’all on a ping pong ride. One day saying this, flipping the script in her next interview. In 2019, the preacher told the Nairobian

“I’m waiting for God to show me the right man. In fact, 2019 keki tunayo (we will have a wedding cake next year)! I’ll continue serving God and humanity and waiting for the right time because He is the one who determines.”

But 2020 came and went, and there was no keki from a woman who once told us that she got 25 proposals from men in a single month (Oops, that hurts, some out here only get those, si upitie texts from f$ck boys)

Well, the fisher of men also has advice for women on the kind of men to give a wide berth.

“The first kind of a man you don’t want to marry is a Solomon kind of a man. Because that man will flirt with you, will flirt with your sister, cousin, your neighbor, your grandmother, there is no boundaries. So the Solomon kind of a man is a dangerous man.

But Madam Oracle, Solomon was the wisest that ever lived and he was wealthy…Rich and smart is many women’s preference

“The second type of a man is the unbeliever man. Remember we are told by Paul, he admonished us not to be equally yoked with unbelievers, so I have never met and still yet to meet a Christian woman that married an unbeliever man that did not regret it later in life, Amos greatly said that two cannot work together unless they are agreed.  Even if the man is tall dark and handsome, these days ladies study that TDH if he is not born again he is not right for you. Scratch him off the list.

(Nuh, some of us want men who only speak in tongues when they are high on our P#ssy juice so forgive us if we do not buy that born-again crap)

“The third is the mama’s boy. If you marry this kind of man, there is nothing wrong with loving your mum and being close to your mother definitely because she is the first woman in your life, but the mama’s boy you will always come second. Momma will always come first.” Said Natasha.

(On this I concur, fully)

Well, in December 2020, she was hosted on Jessy Junction, where she confessed that it took her long to find a partner because she wanted somebody who can be her friend, share same goals, chemistry and also be compatible

… You want to marry somebody that is a friend, that you are compatible with, somebody that you have chemistry with, somebody that you have the same goals, same values, same vision, so that was what I was waiting for, and that Is why it has taken long.

But by the Grace of God…I can tell you very well that I’m in a good relationship. And Love is about two imperfect people coming together…I feel this is the person that God has ordained for me, he’s a friend. He’s someone I can talk to, if I have something Good I want to share, if am going through a struggle this is the person I feel that I need to share with” said Rev. Lucy Natasha.

She further disclosed that before meeting her current man, she had dated other people but things did not work out.

He is a good Guy but he is not of Kenyan descent, he is somebody we are not in the same continent …The greatest challenge I can say is being in different countries and continents so the dynamics are different…It’s not somewhere you can say ‘Let’s meet in the evening’ so its a bit challenging but we are trying to navigate it but love wins,” added Natasha.

Asked if the man she is dating is also a pastor, she replied; “He also has a calling from God upon his life, he is also a man that is in the corporate world, lakini hana kanisa”.

The woman of God added that they will hold three big weddings when time comes.

During Valentine’s season, Natasha launched a book called Before you say ‘I do’ and in a recent interview admitted that she was criticized that she was teaching on marriage when she was single

She claims her book was informed by the grace of God.

“I totally discourage believers from marrying nonbelievers because your Christian beliefs play a vital role in marriage,

“As I said, I will use the Bible, Isaiah 34:16, to defend my restrictions on why I would not marry a nonbeliever. The book says, ‘No one who will miss a partner. Regardless of what the census is saying, I believe there is somebody for everyone because God is a matchmaker.”

She added,

“Marriage is beyond sex, and sex is one blessing that comes with marriage, but you cannot be in bondage because of sex. Relationship is beyond that. Sex should come after marriage,

“I have categorized these types of single people; single and sinning, single and searching and those who are single and satisfied, meaning they are not ready to settle in marriage again, maybe because of their past experiences.”
